Art Contest

The advanced and intermediate art students entered an art competition put on by the The Wassmuth Center for Human Rights. They invited Idaho students to create original works of writing, performance, and visual art in response to Article 2 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, which affirms that everyone is entitled to all the rights and freedoms–regardless of race, gender, language, religion, political opinion, national origin, or any other status. We had three students place and three receive special recognition.

Annie E placed 1st in the 8-9th Grade visual Arts category
Farrah, T received Second Place in the 8 - 9 Grade Visual Arts category
Rachel, H received Third Place in the 8 - 9 Grade Visual Arts category
Fernanda, S received Third Place in the 6 - 7 Grade Visual Arts category
Keigan, S will receive special recognition in the 2026 Hansberger Arts Awards. Her entry will be recognized for embodying the spirit of the Idaho Anne Frank Memorial.
Brydger, D and Maximus H both  received Honorable Mention in the 6 - 7 Grade Visual Arts category.

I want to invite everyone to an exciting “We the People” event that will highlight their artwork! The winning entries will be featured at a special America 250 First Thursday Student Arts Awards Showcase at JUMP on May 7, 2026 from 5:00 - 8:00 PM! The event will be held on the 5th floor of JUMP, 1000 W Myrtle St. in Boise. You can explore the art and learn about community arts partners from 5:00 - 6:00 PM. The awards portion of the program begins at 6:00 PM and includes the presentation of awards, student readings, and a special performance and talk by Jenny Willison Hirst, a local human rights advocate. The Arts Awards Showcase is open to the public, so your Idaho community will be able to view and discuss the powerful art and message you created!

Please register for this free event here, and congratulate the contestants if you see them.

Tutor.com

Tutor.com is an online service that connects students with live tutors to help them with schoolwork. Think of it like a library study room, but it's on the internet and you can get help any time of the day or night. It's designed to give students one-on-one help to understand tough subjects and finish their homework.

Feed it Forward

Feed it Foward-Donation Opportunity

Feed It Forward: Supporting Students, One Meal at a Time

No child should go hungry. No child should be shamed.

A Feed It Forward program allows community members to make financial contributions to cover student meal debt or negative balances, ensuring every child has access to a healthy meal.

 How It Works

1 Donation
Community members, parents, or organizations donate funds through the school’s online meal payment system LINQ when adding funds to your student account or you can drop off cash or check at the district office or the office at Fremont Middle School indicating it’s for Fremont Middle School.
2. Fund Application
Donations are applied to reduce or eliminate student meal debt.
3.  No Stigma
Students receive meals without being denied food or experiencing “lunch shaming.” When students come through the breakfast or lunch line and don't have the funds to cover the cost of their meal the cashier can choose to use the school’s account.
4Using the Account
No Al A Carte purchases. Students will only be able to use the school account for full meals and not individual items (ex. An extra piece of pizza, an extra roll, or an extra cookie.
No Second Meals. Second meals on a student account are charged at the adult price. Allowing students to purchase second meals on the school account will deplete the account more quickly.

 Why It’s Important

✅Combats Hunger – Ensures all students receive nutritious meals, regardless of ability to pay.
✅Community Support – Gives community members a way to directly support local schools.
✅Addresses Meal Debt – Helps schools manage outstanding balances.
✅Reduces Lunch Shaming – Promotes a positive, supportive school environment.
