About AVID
AVID provides students with learning tools they can use their entire lives, like:
- Organizing their materials and thoughts
- Using reading and writing strategies to remember what they’ve learned
- Setting, monitoring, and achieving their own goals
At the core of AVID, are WICOR (Writing, Inquiry, Collaboration, Organization, and Reading)
AVID in Kuna schools
In middle schools, this looks like all 6th graders taking an AVID elective to learn study, note taking, and communication skills that they can use in all classes and being able to choose the AVID elective in 7th and 8th grade to go deeper into career exploration.
